This notice explains what The War On News collects and why. "We" means Peter Benes, the publisher.

What we collect when you visit

The site sets no cookies, has no user accounts and uses no tracking pixels or advertising. Two kinds of information are recorded:

• Edge analytics. The site is delivered by Cloudflare, whose analytics count page views, countries of origin, referring sites and similar totals. We see only the totals, not records of individual visitors.
• Server request logs. Each request is logged with the time, the address requested, the IP address it came from, the browser or software that made it and the response. We use these logs to keep the site secure, diagnose faults and measure traffic.

Tips, correction requests and email

If you email us or file a correction request, we keep what you send, your email address and our correspondence, so we can check the request, reply and keep a record of changes. We do not publish your name or contact details without your permission. The public corrections log records what changed, not who asked.

MCP and API requests

Requests to the MCP endpoint, data downloads and other machine interfaces are logged with the time, the IP address, the tool or file requested and the query, to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. Correction requests filed through the MCP endpoint are kept for moderation in the same way as email.

How long we keep it

Server and MCP request logs are kept for up to 30 days, longer only when needed to investigate a security incident. Analytics are kept only as totals. Correspondence and submissions are kept while the matter is open and for up to two years after our last exchange; when a correction is published, its log entry is kept without your personal details.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for advertising. Cloudflare processes request data on our behalf and may do so outside Canada, including in the United States. We disclose personal information to others only when the law requires it.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to hello@thewaronnews.com. We reply within 30 days. We handle personal information in keeping with Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If this notice changes, the new version will be posted here with the date it took effect.
